Frequently Asked Question

How do I transfer files to and from Advantage Cloud?
Last Updated about a month ago

Do not save items directly onto the Advantage Cloud desktop. The desktop on the Advantage Cloud server is not private, so when you put something there everyone can see it. I have created a policy to add a folder and shortcut on your desktops to that folder that can be used to transfer files back and forth. Please follow the steps below to transfer files to and from Advantage Cloud as needed.

1. On your computer’s desktop should be a shortcut called ‘CompuLink Documents’. This links to a folder on the machine you are currently logged in through that you can use to transfer files back and forth with the Advantage Cloud server.

2. On the Advantage Cloud server’s Desktop, you will see a folder with the same name. This is a direct link on the server to that same folder on the computer you are currently logged in on.

3. To transfer a file from your computer to the Advantage Cloud server so you can import it into Advantage, simply open the ‘CompuLink Documents’ folder, then copy and paste the document into the folder.

4. You will then see the file(s) in the ‘CompuLink Documents’ folder on the Advantage Cloud server. Here you can import them into Advantage.

5. The same thing works in reverse as well. If you put something in the ‘CompuLink Documents’ folder on the Advantage Cloud server, you will be able to access it in the same folder on the computer you are logged into.

6. As you see here the fee schedule file I added to the folder on Advantage Cloud is in the folder on my computer.

Note the following:

  • This is a folder on the computer are currently logged into, it does not follow you around.
  • You should not leave files in this folder, as the next person to use this computer will have them in the folder on the computer and their Advantage Cloud connection.
  • Files that you need to save should be moved to the place you normally save them, such as your Clinic Drive folder, or a department folder on the LBJI Share Drive.
  • Files that you only needed temporarily should be deleted from this folder before you leave for the day.
