Frequently Asked Question

How do I set my default printer for Advantage?
Last Updated 2 days ago

Advantage Cloud by default uses your computer’s default printer, meaning you do not need to change your printer when you move from office to office. You do however need to make sure the printer you want to use is your default on each computer you go to. Please follow the steps below to set your default printer, so the TS Print Default printer prints to that printer every time.

1. Minimize the Advantage Cloud desktop if you have it open. You want to see your normal desktop, not the CompuLink one. You can easily tell you are on the CompuLink desktop by their branded red Start Menu icon in the bottom left corner of the taskbar.

  • Normal Windows Desktop Start icon:

2. In the Search box on your Taskbar type printers and press Enter. Note it will likely auto populate to printers & scanners, that is fine, as that is what we want to open.

3. Scroll down the list of printers until you see Printer preferences and turn ‘Let Windows manage my default printer’ off.

4. Scroll back up the list of printers and click on the printer you want to be your default.

5. While on your printer’s config page, click the ‘Set as default’ button to make it the default. Note that the Printer status: will change to Default once you do this. You will also see Default under your printer when you go back to the printer listing page.

6. When printing from Advantage leave TSPrint Default as your printer, and it will automatically print to the printer you have set as Default on your computer.

Note the following:

  • This only should need to be done once per machine you go to, but if you have not used a machine in 30 days you may have to go through this process again.
  • There are situations where IT may need to reset your profile to resolve an issue. If we do that you will need to repeat this process on the machine we did that to.
